0) Get OSS from http://www.opensound.com/download.html

(wget http://www.4front-tech.com/release/oss-linux_v4.0-1015_i386.deb)

1) rmmod old sound modules. (onboard, etc)

2) dpkg -i <whatever>

3) Use ossmix for volume control.

Troubleshooting:

/etc/init.d/soundon

lsmod (check for …)
